In 2009 Somali pioneers took the initiative for a joint protest against female genital mutilation (25 November 2009). On 27 November 2010 the success was repeated with a day of protest against female genital mutilation at Folkets hus. Following this the day of protest has become a yearly tradition, being held during the last weekend of November.

Amathea are running groups that are adapted to local needs.

In recent years the employees of Stiftelsen Amalthea have participated at regional and national seminars on female genital mutilation.
